The given bar chart shows the proportion of female 16-to-25-year-olds watching and engaging in six different kinds of sport in a nation in 2000.
Overall, it can be clearly seen that tennis and basketball were by far the most popular sports for viewers and participants respectively, while horse riding and racing recorded the lowest figures in both groups. In addition, the biggest difference was registered in tennis.
Turning to the chart for details, the majority of female teenagers preferred watching tennis with 60%, which was two times higher than those playing it (30%). The second most popular sport for female spectators was basketball with 55%, compared to 50% those of its players. About 20% of females favored watching gymnastics matches, while those who participated in it were only 10%. Horse riding and racing was a much less prevalent sport, with only 5% of its audiences and 2% of its participants.
Looking at other sports, more female teenagers played golf with 30% compared with only 10% of those watching it. Females participating in badminton accounted for about 12%, compared to only 3% of those watching.
