The graph below gives information about the preferred leisure activities of Australian children.
The bar graphs elucidate the amount of spare time spent on five different leisure activities by Australian boys and girls whose age of 5 – 14.
Regardless of gender, all Australian children enjoyed watching TV or videos in their free time. In addition, the second most popular activity, attracting 80% of boys and 60% girls, was playing electronic or computer games. This trend was similar for bike ride activities where the proportion of boys’ preferences was higher (almost 80%) than those of girls (almost 60%). Girls rated art and craft activities highly as the survey recorded at just under 60% whereas the proportion of boys, who chose to play creative pastimes, halved for those of girls. Skateboarding was the least popular activities for both genders, particularly for girls; with just above 20% and just under 40% for boys.
It is evident from the graph that, both genders enjoyed their free time by playing indoor activities (watching or playing with the electronic devices) rather than playing outdoor activities.
