The line graph given compares a European nation in terms of the quantity of international tourists visiting three distinct regions over a period of 20 years from 1987 to 2007.
It is clear from the graph the coast was by far the most appealing destination among travellers. Additionally, increase was witnessed in all categories.
In 1987, there were 40 thousand visitors prefering to have journeys to coastal regions, while standing 20 thousand, the figure for highland areas was twice as low as that of the coast. Likewise, exactly 10 thousand tourists decided to visit lakeside destinations. To 1997, the quantities of the coastal areas and lacustrine trips upsuged to around 52 and approximately 50 thousand respectively, compared to a steady growth in the number of visitors to the mountains.
In 2002, the figure for the lakes underwent a substantial increase to nearly 75 thousand and became the peak of the graph, at which point it began to drop significantly to exactly half of 100 thousand people in 2007. Meanwhile, that of foreigners having trips to the coast was matched with a roughly similar trend to around 63 thousand and then it continues to reach the highest figure, at over 75 thounsand in 2007. By contrast, after having experienced fluctuations in 2002, the quantity of the mountain visits went up to about 35 thousand individuals in 2007.
