Some people think that business subjects should be mandatory in high school education. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
There is an opinion that business education should be incorporated into the high school curriculum. Personally, I wholeheartedly agree with this viewpoint given some particular benefits it brings to students.
To begin with, incorporating business subjects into the high school curriculum can provide students with practical knowledge that is applicable to various aspects of life. By learning about fundamental business concepts such as finance, marketing, and entrepreneurship, students can develop a solid foundation which enables them to navigate the complexities of the modern economy and make informed decisions regarding personal finance, investment and savings. In addition, business education could foster critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Students will learn to analyze complex situations, consider multiple perspectives, and make well-reasoned judgments. These skills equip them to effectively address challenges and make informed decisions, preparing them for the demands of the real world.
Furthermore, mandatory business subjects in high school education provide students with a broader understanding of the world and enhance their career prospects. In fact, business concepts are not confined to the business realm alone but have a cross-disciplinary nature that extends to various fields such as science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEM). Therefore, integrating business subjects into the curriculum allows students to gain interdisciplinary skills and a holistic perspective. They can explore the intersections between business principles and other subjects, fostering creativity and innovation. For instance, understanding marketing concepts can help students develop effective communication skills, which are valuable in any profession.
In brief, I firmly believe that business subjects should be mandatory in high school education due to their practicality and relevance in equipping students with essential skills for their future endeavours.
