The chart below shows the percentage of river water in UK rivers that is classified as having good chemical quality between 1990 and 2002

The provided line chart illustrates the regional river water rates in four different countries in the UK, namely Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland, and England, throughout a twelve-year period. Additionally, the chart showcases the changes and trends in the chemical quality of the river water across these nations over the specified time period from 1990 to 2002.

Overall, throughout the course of the time period, percentages of quality river water in Wales and Scotland remained constant for two-thirds of the given time period, while Northern Ireland's and England's quality river water rates had some noteworthy fluctuations. These findings underline the distinct variations in rates of good chemical quality in river water among these four countries.

In the early 1990s, the percentages of high-quality river water in Wales and Scotland were about 97% and 95%, respectively, and both countries' river water rates remained relatively stable until the year 1998. However, these rates were incredibly exchanged among each other between 1998 and 2000; consequently, Scotland's rate of river water quality outpaced the percentage of river water quality in Wales at the end, with approximately equal percentages that they had in the beginning.

In the beginning of 1990, the river water rate of Northern Ireland was around 92% and carried out prominent fluctuations till 1998, hitting its lowest rate (81%) in 1996 during the period. Thereafter, it had a rapid surge and ended up with the same percentage of Scotland's river water quality in 2002. Though England had the lowest rate initially, it overcame Northern Ireland's rate during 1996. Furthermore, the rate of river water in England rose to exactly 90% in 2000 and steadily continued.
