Overall, the world oil price witnessed an increase over the period and hit its highest proportion during the next ten years. Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia and Russia exported the largest amount of oil in 2005.
Regarding the first chart, the average global oil price began at just under 15 US dollars per barrel and rose markedly to about 45 US dollars between 1970 and 1975. Next, the figure witnessed almost an unchanged for the next three years but later increased significantly to reach its peak of over 80 US dollars in 1980. In contrast, the price decreased dramatically to under 30 US dollars per barrel in 1986, followed by a small fluctuation of about 22 US dollars for the next fifteen years. There was a slight fall to under 30 US dollars before a steady growth to about 55 US dollars by the final year.
Turning to the bar graph, in 2005, Saudi Arabia exported the largest proportion of oil, at over 9 million barrels each day, followed by Russia at under 7 million per barrel. The amount of oil-exporting in Norway and Iran was almost the same, with about 2.7 million barrels. Finally, the two countries which had the least amount of oil were the United Arab Emirates and Nigeria, at 2.5 and 2.4 million barrels per day respectively.
