Consumption of Fast Food by Australian teenagers
The given line graph illustrates how many times per year the Australian youngsters ate fast food, which was divided into three categories, between 1975 and 2000.
Overall, there was an upward trend in most categories of food except for fish and chips. Another striking feature is that the period surveyed witnessed the most noticeable growth in consuming hamburgers.
As can be inferred from the chart that, initially, the pizza consumption ranked last with 5 times, which was half of the times hamburgers consumed. Over a decade, in 1985 the gap between pizza and hamburgers widened significantly, with the former’s figure experiencing a surge of 75 times compared to a gradual increment 30 times of the latter’s. In the last year of the surveyed spell, the number of times pizza consumed by the young in Australia reached the level of about 85, which was 15 times less than the hamburger’s rate.
In contrast, it is apparent that posterior to declining to 85 times from the initial point of 100 times in 1980 , the fish and chips consumption underwent a slight upturn to 95 times five years later. Afterwards, the number of times this fast food eaten diminished sustainably by roughly 55 times to the trough of under 40 times, ending the period with the last rank.
