The chart below shows the percentage of the population in the UK who consumed the recommended daily amount of fruit and vegetables in 2002, 2006 and 2010.
The bar chart depicts the percentage of men, women and children in the UK consuming the amount of recommended fruit and vegetables on a daily basis in three separated years: 2002, 2006, 2010.
Overall, what stands out from the chart is that the amount of fruit and vegetables consumed by women was always the highest among three whereas the opposite trend was for children. In addition, there was a slight fluctuation in the consumption of fruit and vegetables in all three mentioned subjects.
As mentioned to men and women, in 2002, the amount of fruit and vegetables consumed by women took up 25%, meanwhile in 2006 this rate rose up sharply and peaked at 32% which accounted for the highest. Up to 2010, there was a steep tank down of this percentage to 27%. Followed by this was the amount of fruit and vegetables eaten by men, which rank the second at 22%. The year 2006 witnessed a dramatic roar to 28% in men’s fruit and vegetables consumption. However, four years later saw a slight plunge by 4% in the fruit and vegetables consumption of this sex.
Turning to the children, in 2002 the number of children in the UK who consumed fruit and vegetables daily was 11%, the lowest. But later, this figure slightly rose up to 16% in 2006, the highest. After going up, the amount of fruit and vegetables eaten by children sank steeply to 14% in 2010.
