The two maps illustrate the current structure and future plan for development of the centre of a small town called Islip.
Overall, the map shows that there are plans for adding 5 new establishment at the centre of the town of Islip. Moreover, the main one-way road that is situated at the centre currently will be reconstructed to a dual carriage circular road.
Focusing on the map of the current centre of Islip, there is only one main road going through the centre while two dead end branches of road go one towards the school and the park respectively. There are shops on both side of the road which is situated to the south of countryside. Further south, an area nearer to the school and park is occupied by housing for the town.
Now, moving on to the map of future plans for development, the main road will be reconstructed to a circular road going through all around the centre of the town. The road will be built to be a dual carriageway. The country side will be brought in to build in new establishments such as – car parking, bus station and a shopping centre. The main road from the current structure will be used as a footpath for pedestrians to pass through the centre. Along with the two housing areas in the current structure, two new housing areas will be built, one nearer to the current housing and another further towards north. A new branch of the road will open to the new housing area that is expected to be built towards the north. The school will be kept in pristine condition, while the park will be made much smaller than the original one, to take the space into building a new housing area. And finally, the shops currently to the south of road will also stay untouched.
