Governments should focus on solving the immediate problems of today rather than on trying to solve the anticipated problems of the future.
Write a response in which you discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the recommendation and explain your reasoning for the position you take. In developing and supporting your position, describe specific circumstances in which adopting the recommendation would or would not be advantageous and explain how these examples shape your position.
It is not uncommon for someone to argue that the government should focus on the current problems instead of solving the problems in the future. The proponent of the statement is that we live now, so we must careful for ourselves rather than our off springs. However, I disagree with it based on substantial development of the earth.
It is obvious that if we do not solve the urgent problem, the chance to save is bleak, not to say raising children. For example, when facing the financial crisis, people have to cut down trees to make economy developed. Although it does harm to the environment, if the government do not establish laws to push the economy, many people will die. So as for the threat which is vital to influence people' survival, it is better to take the current situation into consideration. If the government pays more attention to the anticipated problems which result from the deterioration of the environment, there would not be any change in the living standard.
However, when considering current problems which have no connection with the extinction of human being, I regard the future problems should be considered as well. There is a ancient Chinese story reveals the truth. It is said a person who catches the fish in a lake, both mature fish and immature fish, and in the next year he has nothing to eat. The story tells that maybe people will care about today's interest, ignoring the future risk, but they ought to think about the consequence they may meet in the future especially when today's merit is contradicted with the future problem.
Moreover, it is a self-serving consideration that the government only focus on current issues. Although we have no idea what future will be like, at least we should take care of our children, and our grandchildren, right? At the same time, the government also need to focus on the elder people and children. In conclusion, when facing the dilemma between the current problems and future ones, the government should balance importance for each, consulting various scholars as well as listen to citizens advice, only in this way can the government shoulder the responsibility for people.
In a word, I disagree with the statement that solving today's problems has priority than the future problems. But the actions the governments take should base on different premise, and they have to choose the better,
