The given tables illustrate the potato use and manufacture in five regions on the globe during the year 2006.
Overall, Europe was the area which consumed the largest quantity of potatoes. It is also noticeable that the production level of this continent was in the second rank.
Regarding the first table, which indicates the potato consumption, Europe stood in the first place, with over 95 kg per person. This region was followed by North America with about a half of its figure. The continents of Asia and South and Central America were in the third and fourth ranks respectively, with around one-fourth as compared to that of Europe. Africa was on the last level, with about 14 kg per person.
Concerning the second table, which demonstrates the potato production, Asia was at the top of the list, with over 131 million tons. Europe was ranked second, with around 5 tons less than Europe. North America was in the third position, with below 25 million tons. The continents of Africa and South and Central America came fourth and last respectively, with around 15 million tons.
