In the term of why some paintings which have been attributed to Rembrandt, actually were painted by him or not both the reading and the lecture are contradictory. One of this painting is the most attractive model to consider this contradiction.
First, reading says Rembrandt who has been famous as a details considering painter couldn't be painter of this painting with some obvious inconsistency such as woman in the painting wear servant linen cap and fur collar ( a cloth for high-level people on that time). In the lecture, professor says that peace which fur collar painted on is for one thousand years after Rembrandt painted original painting and this done by people who wanted to make painting more valuable.
Second, reading states fur collar because of light absorbing as a result of dark color should be cause a part woman face be shadowy and for, this painting can't be attributed to Rembrandt who had highly skillful in light and shadow adjustment. In the lecture professor refutes reading and expresses that this determine Rembrandt skillful because woman wears light cloth which reflect light toward her face .
Third, reading claims Rembrandt always painted on one wood panel but this painting painted on some clinging wood panels. In the lecture professor says, part of painting that was painted by Rembrandt locate on one wood panel but other panels relevant to people who wanted to enlarge that. Professor also says that single wood panel is of a similar three which Rembrandt used for other paintings.
