The earth is losing its
The earth is losing its wildlife at an alarming rate, more so in the last half century. Researches have revealed a fifty percent reduction in their population during that period. Several species have gone extinct from the face of the earth and a few endangered animals are on the verge of it.
Primary reason for this acute problem is the explosion of human population. While the number of wild animals is in a sharp decline, humans have grown exponentially. This has resulted in destruction of natural habitats of wildlife. Uncontrolled poaching, upsurge in use of pesticides and chemical fertilizers, industrial pollution etc. have acted as catalysts in aggravating it. Global worming has caused climate change and affected living being adversely.
The immediate need is to arrest deforestation by implementing stern laws. People violating environmental pollution norms should be strictly penalized. Poaching should be considered a severe offence and stringently dealt with. Most countries already have laws against wildlife destruction, but enforcement must improve. farmers should be encouraged to adopt organic cultivation and there should be incentives for that. Above all, people's mindset needs to change to be more compassionate toward animals, and that can be seeded at a young age. Governments should allocate adequate budgets for research and conservation of wildlife. Planting and protecting trees should become a global trend.
We must act before it’s too late. Lack of bio diversity will not only cause aesthetic harm, but also turn this earth to a non-livable planet. As the most intelligent species, mankind have the responsibility to conserve it.
