The graph below shows a percentage who drank each unit group on heaviest drinking day by age group, 2014 in the UK. Summarise the information by choosing and describe the main idea, and make comparisons where appropriate.
The graph represents the proportion of British people in four age groups (16 to 24, 25 to 44, 45 to 64, 65 and over) by drinking four distinctive units from +14 units, 7-14 units, 4.67 – 7 units and below 4.67 units in 2014.
Overall, younger age groups tended to drink similar proportions of drink whereas the elders preferred to drink up to 4.67 units. It is interesting to note that, the highest proportion of British age groups had drunken up to 4.67 units.
In terms of younger generations, the majority of them drank below 4.67 units of drinking of 45%, followed by 25% of them drank between 7-14 units and there was a similar proportion for drinking over 14 units and 4.67 – 7 units (of 15%). Meanwhile, British people with 25 – 44 age group showed the similar trend as the younger generation; the highest proportion for below 4.67 units of drinking (nearly 50%), 25% of them drank 7 – 14 units and 5% for the rest of drinking units.
For the elder generations especially over 65 years, a three quarter of them drank maximum of 4.67 units per day and the equivalent proportion was divided into the rest of drinking units except for over 14 units which had 5% of drinking person.
