The table shows the distribution of water consumption in three main categories, domestic, agriculture and industrial, in 6 gulf countries, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, UAE and Saudi Arabia in year 2000. The units are given as percentages for each country. Overall, although there were variances between each country, agriculture compromised the main category of water utilization all but Kuwait and Bahrain.
Saudi Arabia and Oman were the top two countries where the vast majority of water is used for agriculture, exceeding 80%, which is followed by UAE and Qatar with around 60 per cent. On the other hand, Bahrain and Kuwait were the two countries where domestic use of water makes up the major group, reaching 50% and 62% respectively.
Industrial usage were the smallest constituent of usage among three, in all six countries roughly between 5-20 per cent of utilization. This was more prominent in the four countries, Qatar, OMAN UAE and Saudi Arabia where water was mainly used for agriculture, the industrial utilization of water was just around 5 percent.
