The table shows the percentage of six types of lower-class families in Australia in 1999. Overall, it is clear that the country experienced the minority proportion of all household types living in poverty. Therein, the number of aged couple living in poor conditions was the lowest, while the reverse was true for sole parents.
To begin with, sole parent accounted for the highest percentage of 21% of people who lived in the shortage of condition. The number of single, no parent who lived in poverty was lower, at 19%. On the other hand, there was only 12% of couple with children in Australia living in lack of needs.
As can be seen that Australia saw the minority percentage of people who were in household types such as couple no kids, single aged person and aged couple living in a miserable condition, at approximately 5%. However, only 11% of all household types lived in poverty on average.
