Given are two c harts providing comparison of Japanese tourists travelling overseas between 1985 and 1995, as well as certain percentages of Australia's share in the Japanese tourism sector.
According to the first picture, there is an upward trend with the number of Japanese going abroad in each year except for 1991. Initially, in 1985, there were about 5 million tourists who went abroad and after 10 years, in 1995, that number multiplied by threefolds with around 15 million.
Next, the second illustration describes that beginning in 1985 there were approximately 2 million Japanese visiting Australia. From 1985 till 1988, the number increased dramatically peaking at 5 million in 1988. By 1989, there was a slight dip to around 4 million tourists but the chart shows a gradual increase from the year 1990 onwards.
The two graphs represent the gradual increase with the total Japanese travelling abroad as well as the number of tourists going to Australia.
