Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? To improve the quality of education, universities should spend money on salaries university professors. Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.
The teacher is a fundamental aspect in education process hence it cannot be supplanted with other things such as internet or textbooks. Moreover, the expertise that professor bring to the classroom is the soul of university education. His or her experience and skill needs to be acknowledged, one of the ways to appreciate it is with increasing their salary. Personally, I agree with the statement because several reasons I would like to elaborate in the next paragraph.
First, the substantial income will hinder the professor to work at many universities. Therefore, he or she will spend more time to assist the student in the campus. They will be able to help the tutor process or even give additional class if needed. Additionally, the less fatigue professor give more energetic teaching ambiance thus the student will more excited to attend the class.
Secondly, the higher salary also encourages the professor to provide better service to the student. They will more likely to teach wholeheartedly and more tentative. For example, a professor who gets lower income probably does not want to exonerate the material to an apathetic student since they believe it is not worth the effort. In the other end, with a higher wage, the professor will feel responsible to provide more service to the student hence he or she will try to gain the attention the apathy student.
Lastly, the professor becomes more prolific in research because of the higher salary. It is a fact that the more high-quality scientific journals boost a prestige of the university. Especially, the research leads to the invention of avant-garde material or theory. The accolades that the professor gains also make the university name more famous. For example, an international student will choose a university with numerous Nobel laureates and well-known professor than the one with least famous names. The more students, more money the university gain hence the investment to the professor salary is substantially advantageous.
Ultimately, the increment in salary for a professor will benefit the student, the university, and the scientific world. All the things considered, I believe it is necessary to increase the professor salary.
