Do you agree or disagree with the following statement?
To improve the quality of education, universities should spend money on salaries university professors.
Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.
The teacher is an essential part of the education process. They cannot be supplanted with other resources such as internet or textbooks. Moreover, the professor brings his or her expertise to the classroom and gives the unique part of university education. His or her experience needs to be acknowledged, I believe one of the ways to appreciate their contribution is with increasing their salary thus I agree with the statement because several reasons I would like to elaborate in the next paragraph.
Firstly, the increased salary will provide the student with less fatigue professor. What I mean is, the professors will unlikely works at different universities hence the professor will less tire. Therefore, he or she will spend more time to assist the student in the campus. They will be able to help the tutor process or give additional class. Moreover, the professor will more energetic while he or she teach thus the student will more excited to learn. In the end the quality of education will improve.
Secondly, the higher salary also encourages the professor to provide better service to the student. They will teach wholeheartedly and more tentative. For example, a professor who gets low income will not exonerate the material to an apathetic student since they believe it is not worth the effort. In the other hand, with a higher salary, the professor feel responsible to provide more service to the student hence he or she will try to gain the attention of the student. The student will gain more comprehensive knowledge and graduate with a better skill.
Lastly, the salary will encourage the professor to become a prolific researcher. It is a fact that the more research published in the prestigious scientific journals will boost the university accreditation. Especially, the research which leads to the invention of avant-garde material or theory. Additionally, the accolade that the professor gains also make the university more famous thus more student. For example, an international student will choose a university with numerous Nobel laureates and well-known professor than the one with least famous names. The more research also augments the education process, encourage the student to do gold standard research and practice their analytical thinking.
Ultimately, the money spent for the professor will benefit the student, the university, and the scientific world. All the things considered, I believe it is necessary to increase the professor salary for better education quality.
