The main idea of both the reading passage and the lecture is about how agnostids may have lived. The reading passage provides several different theories. On the other hand, the professor rejects whatever mentioned in the passage.
First, the reading passage discusses that agnostids were free-swimming predators. Nevertheless, the professor refutes this point and states that free-swimming predators have excellent vision while agnostids had tiny eyes or they were blind. Unless they may have another organ which helped them to navigate prey. But their fossils have not shown such an organ.
Second, the reading passage discusses that agnostids may have dwelled on the seafloor. On the other hand, the professor rejects this point and states that seafloor dwellers did not have the ability to travel fast and far. They were lived in localized area. While agnostids were lived in various geographical areas.
Eventually, the reading passage discusses that agnostids were parasites. But the professor is against this and states that if agnostids were parasites, their populations were small. While vast fossils have shown that agnostids' populations were large.
All in all, the reading passage provides three reasons about how agnostids may have lived. On the other hand, the professor thinks that none of these is reasonable.
