The bar chart illustrates the proportion of Australian male and female who did exercise actively in six distinguish age groups from 15 until above 65 years old in 2010.
It is clear that the percentage of men who did physical activity was higher than the group of women except in 15 to 24 group of age.
In group of men, 45 – 54 age group was the highest proportion of group who keep their bodies fit regularly with 53.3% and followed by 55 – 64 age group and 35 – 44 age group accounted for 53% and 52.5% respectively. In contrast, group of above 65 was the lowest with 47.1% compared with the group of 25–34 as the second lowest with 48.9%.
In women group, youngest group, 15 -24 accounted as the highest percentage who did regular exercise with around 52.8%. Then, it declined gradually and reached the lowest point at group of 35 -44 with 39.5%. Moreover, it rose until 46.7 % at group of 65 and over. Interestingly, the proportion of men and women at group of over 65 had similar proportion about 46%.
