The given bar chart compares the data about the proportion of students who passed their high school competency exams, by subject and gender, from 2010 to 2011.
Overall, girls outstripped boys nearly in all subjects over the term in the question. Another notable feature was that Foreign languages, Mathematics and Computer Science were the most favourite subjects for both genders, compared to other courses.
As regards Computer Science, the net percentage stood at 56.3 for girls, which was much higher than the boys, at 42.1%. Also, the figure 56.3% was the highest for the mentioned period. Next, with respect to Foreign languages and Mathematics, females were just ahead of their counterparts by only 1%. The proportion for both courses remained at approximately 47%. Likewise, the difference was marginal for Physics and History, just 2% more as opposed to the boys in both texts.
If we look at Chemistry, the percentage achieved by females was 30.2%, almost two times the boys, at 14.1%. However, Geography was the only exception for boys where they surpassed their correspondents at 30.4% for the former and 20.1% for the later respectively.
