The given bar chart illustrates the proportion of unemployed graduates, aged 20-24, in one European country from 2008 to 2009.
Overall, it can be seen that males surpassed their counterparts throughout the period in the question.
As regards January 2008, males stood at 10%, slightly higher than females at 8%. However, in the next six months (January 2008 to July 2008), there was a rapid drop to around 8% and 7% for males and females respectively. Despite falling, both genders then experienced a sharp swell to 17% (males) and 12% (females) on October 2008 followed by a swift decline to approximately 13% and 8% on January 2009 correspondingly.
From January 2009 to July 2009, there was a marginal fall to 12% from 13% for males, whereas females plummeted to a low of about 7% on April 2009, which was the least total for the mentioned term. Having hit a trough, females then witnessed a prompt growth to finish at nearly 15%. Similarly, regarding the males, the amount rocketed to 23% in the final year, both figures (15% and 23%) on October 2009, being the peak level of the whole span.
