summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisions where relevant.
The two tables illustrate the five commonest aetiologies for quitting smoking and the specific time for giving up.
Overall, the majority of smokers are stopping smoking cigarettes owing to the concern of their general health, while the minority are only quitting early (within the next month).
As for the first table, the general health is the number one reason at 71%, followed by financial considerations at 31% and less risk of getting illness at exactly one-fifth (25%) of the total. Another striking feature is that heavy smokers (20+) stand at 19%, which is almost two times higher than moderate ones (10-19) and light smokers (less than 10) at 10% each in terms of present health problems.
Moving to the second table, approximately three-fifths (71%) intend to give up, with 60% chain smokers (20+), being far lower than the rest two groups at around 75%. 35% will give up within the next six months, compared to 21 and 12 percents of smokers who are set to quit within the next year and the next month respectively. A significant proportion of smokers (40%) are not willing to stop, whereas the others constitute approximately a half of this figure (40%) with a total of 29%.
