TPO-18 Integrated essay
The reading and lecture are both about three different methods of preserving evergreen tree named Torreya. While lecture argues that according to her all these methods are not predicted to have positive results.
First, author mentions technique of experimenting to grow large number of this trees in same cold, and wet regions of favorable microclimate. On the other hand, lecture refutes, she says that these areas predominantly impacted by surrounding warmer atmosphere due to the effect of global warming. As a result, this species possibly fail to reproduce in dry atmosphere.
Secondly, author emphasizes on the method of planting trees to the north part to preserve Torreya from complete depletion. On the contrary, lecture denies by proving example of Black locus, when grown in northern climate it destroyed other species by its tremendous widespread growth. So, she thinks its not good idea to follow unsuccessful technique.
Thirdly, author implies that tree can be nurtured in a controlled environment so that researchers can keep tack of persistence growth. While she points out that weak species do not possess enough strength to fight against diseases. Moreover, huge and diverse three species can resist to disease. As a consequence, researchers lack adequate means to save this tree from extermination. It is worth saying that; lecture proves her opinion that ways described in the reading to protect Torreya are not worth.
