Educational institutions should actively encourage their students to choose fields of study that will prepare them for lucrative careers.
Write a response in which you discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the claim. In developing and supporting your position, be sure to address the most compelling reasons and/or examples that could be used to challenge your position
It is very true that money is the basic requirement for a happy life because without a good paid profession, you have nothing to support your life, both physically and mentally, as well as ability to bring about happiness to people you truly care about. However, I do disagree with the idea the above claim in which students should be encouraged to choose fields of study that will prepare them for the lucrative careers without consideration of their desire.
Firstly, the career is what you have to deal with not a few years but likely more than half of your life, so it must be some thing you are enjoyable to do everyday otherwise you will pop out of its soon or later due to the lack of happiness and incentive to move forward with the job. Then you will have to start from scrap to prepare for a new job, which is pretty challenging and difficult when you are in the middle ages.
Secondly, when the achievements of the jobs are not what you really care about, you would have no incentive to strive for more successes or tackle the obstacles. As a result, unsurprisingly, one can not win the competition with so many others who really enjoy the job and put a lot of efforts in. Thus, the failure and disappointment or ordinary life is inevitable for ones who choose the path without their heart.
Other people, in the contrast, support the above claim, saying that lucrative career is easiest and safest way to bring about happiness because with a lot of money, you can enjoy what ever you like - a nice house, a glory car, helping your loved ones. It is no doubt about the role of money in our live, however, material gains only can not bring you the happiness, so cant the lucrative careers without passion. Although, ones can be happy at the begin with a lot of money they earn but after all the economic needs are fulfilled, what else the money can be used to bring about their happiness. It is the value of the profession that in what really matter for one's long-term happiness - its value can be understood as the fruits along the way and/or at the end that make one's life purposeful. Therefore, as long as the salary is sufficient for supporting your life and family, choosing a job allowing to pursuit your dream rather than a lucrative one.
In conclusion, educational institutions should actively encourage their students to choose the field of study that they are really interested in or useful for their future desired job because it is the only way to make you stay happily in this field for the rest of your life. A meaningful career is as important as the monetary gains.
