Some people believe that government officials must carry out the will of the people they serve. Others believe that officials should base their decisions on their own judgment.
There is a very controversial issue whether government officials must carry out the will of the people or should pay attention to their decisions on their own judgment. There are many arguments supporting both views those for and those against each of these strategies. The most proportion of people believes that one of main important responsibilities of government officials is investigating the general welfare of all people instead of following their own goals.
On the one hand, providing people with the golden opportunity to meet their basic demands like security and safety is one of the main duties of the governments because at the majority of countries government officials are elected by people in order to make an effort to provide their people with general welfare. Carrying out the will of the people should be on top priority of these kinds of government and the government officials are expected to do their best as regards satisfying their societies. If they want to make their decisions based on their own sake without attention to demands of people, little by little ruin their important relationship with society.
In addition, some societies that has egotist government officials who do not pay attention to their citizen’s demands and make corruption easily, might have outraged by general public. For example, at a small society that the government officials do not consider public opinion in their decisions and try to reap the benefit of their positions in order to make profits for a small group of people, would not be able to rely on the majority of their community at specific circumstances. The most percentage of this society does not accept their government because their political men do not pay attention to their basic demands. So for all reasons that are mentioned above, if the governments want to be supported by their societies, they must put satisfaction of their people on top priority and carry out the will of the people they serve.
On the other hand, there are certain strategic decisions that should be kept secret among the government officials and they should make a decision on their own judgments. For instance, specific political decisions, setting special policy and determining strategic weak points of country are main issues that should be remain secret due to security reasons. In some cases, people do not have enough information about certain subject and they would not be able to make contributions. It is more likely that increasing the level of inter-playing of people at some decisions makes an irreversible damage; therefore, the government official should base their decision on their own judgments.
In conclusion, the government should make balance among paying attention to general public demands and its own needs and realize what kinds of circumstances are more important than others. Considering the will of people the political men serve should be on top of their purposes because they have commitments to meet the basic demands of their society and avoid considering their own thoughtless sake.
