Governments should offer a free university education to any student who has been admitted to a university but who cannot afford the tuition.
The race of human-beings advancing rapidly through the time, primarily because of our intelligence. This very intelligence is more than sufficient for us to not only survive in this world, but to advance or morph into a better version of our selves. And the intelligence grows mostly because of education. Education is a must for us to develop economically, and be more creative in the humanity areas. The prompt is about government ensuring scholarships to those students who are unable to afford the tuition. I agree with this statment that it is a responsibility of the goverment to bear the tuition fees of the poor students.
To begin with, a nation's economy is hugely dependent on the percentage of educated people. As there are more educated people, the economy surges upward. If the students have financial incapabilites to pay their respective tuition fees, the are derpived of the higher education. This may lead to a broader problem to the economy in the future. We should look into the third world countries where huge amount of people are inadequate when it comes to paying the tuition fees in universities. For example, Bangadesh is a third world country where the public universities waived their tuition fees to a bare minimum, so that any student with any background can have the equal opportunity for their higher studies. Consequently, Bangladesh is slowly economically becoming more and more dependent, largely because of this step from the government.
Additionally, if we look back into 16th-17th centuries, we may get a better grasp of the sheer importance of education. Galileo, Nicolaus Copernicus, Isaac Newton and many more who shaped the modern age of science. What if anyone of them were deprived the higher education that may lead to drawback of our human race to one or two hundred years. And if we look more into our history, the pantheons of Greeks such as Plato, Socrates , Archimedes, and many such who strolled on the grounds and imparted knowledge to their disciples. Those simpler times, even if it does seem a obsolete for now-a-days, should be the example that none should be stripped of their right to get higher education. We should always remember that education is the primary thread to our advancement thorugh the ages.
However, there is a drawback to this statement that government should pay the tuition fees. There are countries where there are other ways for students to make up the tuition fees after graduating. As government can not pay all the tuition fee of their students because of economical restraints. This should be addressed that if the students has other ways to pay back their tuiton fees . Then, these ways should be exploited.
In conclusion, this idea of bearing the poor students tuition fees is benefical to the country.
