A nation should require all of its students to study the same national curriculum until they enter college.
Write a response in which you discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the recommendation and explain your reasoning for the position you take. In developing and supporting your position, describe specific circumstances in which adopting the recommendation would or would not be advantageous and explain how these examples shape your position.
The claim recommends that all the students in a country should study the same national curriculum. this recommendation is hard to impliment but it will benefit many of the students in the country. I agree with the recommendation as it will help to provide equal access and opportunities to every student for further studies. Here, I have analyzed some of the benefits of having a uniform curriculum and circumstance that may be a reason to reevaluate the recommendation.
Firstly, a homogenous education will give all the students a equal platform to apply to competitive colleges throughout the country. many nations have some top colleges that require a certain level of ability to be admitted into. some schools provide traning for these ability more than others, which makes the students from the former school have an upper hand on the admissions. The uniformity in the education students recieve the admission process can be purely based on the students' ability and not their background, and hence have unbaised results.
Secondly, having a uniform curriculum throuoghout the nation would benefit the students that have to transfer multiple times due to various reasons. students that have family issue or have parents that recieve transfers very frequently, usually suffer from lack of quality and consistent education. having a uniform curriculum would make it very easy for the transferring student to adapt to the new place and will not hinder their education at all. this will further benefit the students as they will be able to show their potential and have equal opportunites.
Lastly, education is a right and having equal access to it is extremly important. every student in the nation has a right to recieve quality education, no matter what race, class, sex or ethnicity they belong to. having an uniform education system will make sure that all the students are recieving a high quality education and no social factors are affecting its access to the students. Better access to quality education will again benefits all the students of all groups to recieve equal opportunity for higher education and in job market, which eventually benefits the group as a whole.
this recommendation will not hold true in a situation where the students are able to access education of international level and benefit from it or they would like be competitive for admissions in universities abroad. this mainly applies to students who can afford to recieve a higher quality education than the national curriculum such as internation Bacculaurate (ib) and Advanced Placement (ap). these students will be derived of such education if this recommendation is applied. Furthermore, the students who want to study abroad and want to be competitive on an international level curriculums such as ib and ap makes the student more capable of recieving the education.
Overall, both the benefits and the circumstance contradicting the recommendation I would still stand with my position to follow the recommendation, however, I think there should be some flexibility for students who want to recieve a different type of education for numerous reasons.
