More houses are needed in many countries to cope with increasing populations. Would it be better to build houses in existing towns and cities, or to develop new towns in rural areas?
Population growth rate is high in many countries. It is true that existing houses cannot accommodate those additional people. It is required to build more houses for them.
There might have several ways to resolve this issue. Additional houses can be built inside the cities or new cities can be developed to accommodate those additional people. What would be a better way depends on the density of population in the existing cities and how many houses are needed to build additionally.
If the city is lightly populated and constructing additional houses would not create any harm to environment and people then more houses can be built in the existing cities. To create a new city is not a easy task. It is costly and takes long time to be developed.
On the other hand, if the cities do not have enough room to construct all the houses required to accommodate the increasing people, we should expand our cities, develop new cities in rural areas and enlarge the existing small cities. If we make our existing cities highly populated by developing buildings here and there, we not only create a bad living places for new people but also ruin the existing good living environment.
In a nutshell, what would be better depends on the condition of the current cities, how many new houses need to be constructed and how much money do we have.
