Nowadays, the way many people interact with each other has changed because of technology. In what ways has technology affected the types of relationships people make? Has this become a positive or negative development?
Apparently, in modern world the means of communication among people are fundamentally different from the conventional ones. It is common knowledge that, technological advances are responsible for that change most of all.
We can’t deny that, when technology penetrated into the lives of human beings, it was associated with a decrease in the amount of face-to-face communication. The main reason of this downfall seems to be the emergence of alternative means of contact, such as telephones, mobile phones, the Internet and etc.
Without any doubt, those changes come hand in hand with plenty of good effects on interacting manners of people. To begin with, being less time consuming seems to be the most appealing feature of those new communication methods. To be more precise, although in the past people had to spend a lot of time to meet their relatives or friends, nowadays facilities such as “Skype”, “Viber” and so on enable them to see those acquaintances via video calls. Additionally, technological advances give people chance to make friends in foreign countries, while they are just sitting at home.
When it comes to the negative effects of new technologies on people communication with each other, drop in the amount of face-to-face contact is the first thing that comes to mind, as it cools the relationships between people. Another drawback regarding to this issue is that, overusing them can lead to many diseases related to the exposure to radioactive waves.
To sum it up, despite to the fact that, the development of methods to keep in touch has some shortcomings, in my opinion, taking its important positive points under consideration, we can surely say this process is considerably beneficial in addition to being inevitable.
