It can be clearly seen that in 1970, the amount of marriages was about 2.5 millions, and in 1980, this figure remained stable and then declined gradually, and by 2000, the percentage of marriages had decreased to 2 millions. Besides, in this period of time the amount of divorces remained approximately constant (1 million), by taking account of an moderate increase in 1980 (1.4 millions).
Turning to the marital status of the adults, interestingly enough, in both years (1970 and 2000) the amounts of married people were about 70% and 60% respectively. Also in both aforementioned years, lower than 10% of people were divorced or widowed. In addition, in 1970, 14% of people and in 2000, 20% of people were always single.
In conclusion, in 1970 and 2000 the amount of married people were incredible. Also, in this period of time the amounts of marriages were on the decline, whereas the amounts of divorces did not undergo big transformations.
