A glance at the double line graph compares the rates of unemployment in the USA and Japan from March 1993 to March 1999. It can be clearly seen that the percentage of workforce in the USA was declining whilst this figure in Japan was climbing.

One of the first things to note is that in March 1993 the percentage of workforce in the US stood at 7. That number, then, went down steadily to 5.5 percent in March 1995 before rising gradually to 6 percent in the consecutive month.
