3 spreads
The graph illustrates the usage of 3 different spreads: butter, margarine and low fat and reduced spreads over the period of 26 years, starting in the year 1981. Butter was most commonly used spread at the beginning of the presented period, while low fat and reduced ones only appeared in 1996. Margarine consumption was dominant for a short period of time but dropped drastically. Generally, a decrease in usage of all three spreads can be observed by the end of the year 2007.
The highest decrease is observed in the usage of butter, which was at its peak in 1986 with 160 grams. Since then, it has been drastically, but steadily decreasing, reaching 50 grams in 2007.
Margarine's consumption was steady in years 1981-1996, averaging between 80 and 100 grams. Its usage started dropping in 1996 and this trend can be observed until the end of the presented period, reaching 40 grams in the year 2007.
Low fat and reduced spreads were only introduced in the year 1996, its sharp increase peaked at 90 grams in 2001, however, it has been decreasing over a period of years 2001-2007.
