9. The climograph below shows average monthly temperatures and rainfall in the city of Kolkata.
The picture gives information about Kolkata’s climate change in one year based on average precipitation and temperature, showing as a line and 12 bars respectively.
It is noticeable that Kolkata locates in the northern hemisphere because the hottest month is May, but July is normally when rainfall is heaviest. December, when is the winder time, is the coolest and driest season in the city.
According to the temperature line, most of the days in Kolkata would not over 30 Celsius degrees except those in May, with an average number of 31 Celsius degrees. The monthly temperatures fluctuate between 20 to 30 with the lowest degree of 21 in December. Furthermore, hot weather is not last long since temperatures start dropping after May until the following January.
Looking at the bars, we can see that the rainfall distributes unevenly over the year, raining heavily from June to September. In June, water that comes from rains can be more than 340 mm. However, there is only about 5% of precipitation of the heaviest month in December.
