The given bar chart illustrates the differences in the number of native Australians and foreign residents living in three distinctive kinds of area (urban, rural and town) over a 15-year period.
Generally speaking, in Australia, a majority of people chose to live in urban areas. It is also noticeable that there was an urban sprawl happening at that time, which people tended to migrate to modern cities in order to earn better life standards.
In 1995, Australian citizens accounted for about half of the population, which was around 50% for the total amount of local people and 60% for that of foreigners, specifically. These rates underwent a gradual increase of roughly 20% in the following15 years.
Additionally, there was a significant number of countryside inhabitants in 1995, comprising from 30 to 40% of the whole population. Furthermore, the proportion of town residents was the least in 1995. However, both of these underwent a steep decline in 2005 to less than 20%.
