The bar chart gives information about the percentages of four different types of holiday accommodation which British people selected in the year 2012.
Overall, hotel was considered the most popular type compared to the others. It is also clear that while the majority of people from England, Scotland and Wales preferred self-catering holidays, caravan attracted a significant proportion of Northern Irish.
Approximately 55% of the English chose to stay at a hotel when they were on holiday, followed by around 52% in Scotland and under 50% in both Wales and Northern Ireland. Regarding self-catering, this type of holiday accounted for nearly a third in England, Scotland and Wales as opposed to only 11% in Northern Ireland.
By comparison, the proportions of caravan holiday accommodation in Northern Ireland ranked first in the list, at over 30% whereas the figures for the other countries ranged from about 5% to 12%. At the same time, camping accounted for roughly 12% in England, Wales and Ireland, which was nearly twice as high as that of Scotland.
