A glance at the bar chart provided reveals some striking features of the proportion of males and females in Australia who took part in physical activity on the daily basis in 2010. The figures were shown in various age group.
In general, what stands out from the graphs is that women spent more time on doing physical exercises than men tended to do. However, the youngest age group figure of men (15 to 24) surpassed that of women in the same age group whilst the rest was dominated by females.
In regard to the dominant group in doing physical activity which is the female group, the most engagement was found in the 45 to 54 age group compared to the lowest involvement of the 65 and over age group, at 53.3 percent and 47.1 percent respectively. Moreover, regarding the rest four age group, the older they got, the more time they took to do physical exercises, ranging from 47.7% (the 15 to 24 age group) to 53% (the 55 to 64 age group).
As for males, there was a huge gap between young adults (15 to 24) and the middle-aged (35 to 44), as the recorded figures for the former and the latter were 52.8% and 39.5% correspondingly. Futhermore, with regard to the rest four male age group, the trend was similar to that of female. As they got older, they tended to participate in physical activity to a greater extent, changing within 42.2 percent (25 to 34) and 46.7 percent (55 to 64).
