The bar chart below shows the percentage of Australian men and women in different age groups who did regular physical activity in 2010.
The bar chart illustrates the percentage of males and females in Australia who engage in daily physical exercise in 2010, according to age and gender. Overall, it is noticeable that women participate in regular physical activity more than men in every age group, except the youngest.
To begin with, 47.7% of women in the lowest age bracket did daily exercise. Their participants then went up steadily with increasing age, peaking at 53.3% in the 45-54 group. Subsequently, the figures started to drop, with 47.1 percent of those in the highest age group exercising regularly.
The proportion of males was higher in the lowest group, at 52.8% than in any other gender. However, males' participation gradually lost interest in physical exercise by the time they were 44 years old, as the figures declined dramatically from 52.8% to 49.2% and hit the lowest point among 35-to 44-year-olds at approximately 40%. From the age of 45, the percentage of males taking regular exercise witnessed a slight rise of 4%. After that, the rate climbed to 46.7% among 55-to-64-year-olds, virtually equalizing the proportion of females.
