The bar chart below shows the percentage of government spending on roads and transport in4 countries in the years 1990 1995 2000 2005

The bar chart illustrates the data on the changes in the proportion of revenue that government in four different areas spent on road and transport over a 16-year period, starting from 1990.

Overall, a closer look at the diagram highlights the fact that the British rate was far less than the others, while the opposite trend is true for that of Portugal throughout the research period.

More specifically, Portugal had the highest percentage of money that government used for road and transport, with a rate of roughly 27% in 1990, decreasing gradually to only 20% in the final observed year. Meanwhile, despite starting at approximately 22% in 1990, the figure for Italia experienced a slight fall of 2% in 1995, followed by a rapid rise to over 23% before dropping by 4% in 2005.

On the other hand, the nation which had the lowest rate of revenue was Britain, with only 10% in 1990. In addition, its figure declined slightly by 2% at the end of the period. The USA, however, witnessed the reverse trend, with a growth of about 5%, from 10% to 15% in 1990 and 2005 respectively.
