The bar chart illustrates the information about girls and boys passing high school competency exams through 7 subjects from 2010 to 2011.
Overall, as can be seen, girls had the higher results than boys almost all the subjects surveyed, with the notable exception of geography. Another visible trend is that both genders had the similar interests in foreign languages and mathematics in 2010-2011.
Looking at the detail, schoolboys who passed chemistry account for the lowest percentage, at 14,1%; whereas the number of girls who pass this subject was 30,2%. 25,6% of young girls passing history, compared to 22,9% young boys during the period from 2010-2011. The figures for boys and girls achieved their targets in physics was higher, at 34,6% and 36,7% respectively. However, geography subject where schoolboys’ results in geography were better than girls, with 30,4% and 20,1% respectively.
Both genders obtained a significant higher proportion on foreign language and maths, which account for nearly 50% of each subject. Surprisingly, the percentage of schoolgirls passing computer science peak at the highest point, with a pass rate of 56,3%, which was over 14% higher than boys in the period from 2010 to 2011.
