A glimpse at the two bar charts given reveals the information of rate of adjustment of marital status among eight countries in 1981 and 1994.
Evidently, United States had the highest marriage proportion in 1981. Numbering at over 10 per thousand, cases of new registration as legal couples slipped slightly to become 9 per thousand 13 years later. Denmark, which was the only country that witnessed a significant rise of matrimony, had its portion of married people raised from 5 per thousand to 7 per thousand over the period. The rest of the countries, namely, UK, Japan, Finland, France, Germany and Italy, saw a slight decline but maintained at about 0.4% to 0.7% on their marriage rates.
As of divorce rate, the proportion in United States still stood at high position of 4 per thousand and 7 per thousand in 1981 and 1994 respectively. Denmark shared a similar trend as U.S. with a negligible fall in terms of annulment. It is also interesting to note that while number of people getting divorced raised slightly in UK, Japan, Finland, France and Italy, number of break-up couples in Germany remained at the same of 2 per thousand in both years. Finally, the country with the smallest separation rate was Italy, which was a mere one fifth of that of the United States.
Overall, United States recorded a high on both marriage rates and divorce rate whereas the number of officially separated people was much fewer than their married counterparts in Italy.
