Looking from an overall perspective, it is readily apparent that while Asia and Europe's nmubers are in decline, Asia is on the rise, The rest of the world experienced the most steady increase and by the end was second to Asia in production.
In 1840, Asia stood at the first place with a proportion of 50% closely followed by Europe with 40 % and the rest of the world at 10%. This trend reversed in the next forty years, Europe leading the pack with around 45% whereas Asia in the second place drastically reduced to 30% and the other countries saw a quick rise to 25%.
Europe steadily increased to contribute 50% of world's manufacturing production in 1940, while Asia's contribution continued to decline to 20% and the rest of the world increased to 30%. Asia rose quickly to 25% in 1960 and 45% in 2000, in contrast Europe declined over the surveyed period to reach approximately 28% in 2000
