Carbon cycle
The given flowchart indicates how carbon moves through many stages to complete a natural cycle called carbon cycle.
Overall, carbon move in a natural cycle although there are some human factors that affect the balance.
First of all, plants produce organic carbon by sunlight and CO2 from the air through a process called photosynthesis. This organic carbon then absorbs underground by waste products of animal or when organism like animals or plants die and decay. Part of this carbon produces fossil fuel over a long period of time.
Carbon is also released back to the atmosphere by various ways. One is when animal and plants breath, they release CO2 to the air. Another is when people burn energy made from fossil fuel to run car or machines in factories. This carbon also enters the atmosphere as CO2. Carbon is then absorbed by plants and the cycle repeats.
