The line graph illustrates the percentage of people having car ownership in the UK between 1975 and 2005.
It is clear that the percentage of people who owned 1 car, 2 and 3 cars increased while the rate of British people having no access to a car decreased significantly. Most British people own one car every year.
In 1975, the figure for people having one car was 45% while nearly 43% of people did not have access to a car. Around 7% of the British population owned two cars but the ownership of three cars was about 4%. Over the next ten years, the proportion of British people having one car and no car reduced approximately at 7% and 13% respectively while the ownership of 2 cars and 3 cars rose by 8% and 2%.
From 1985 to 2005, the percentage of British population that did not own a car gradually decreased by around 2% while the ownership of 1 car, 2 cars, 3 cars increased by approximately 7%, 9% and 4% respectively. By 2005, the percentage of people who owned 1 car, 2 cars and 3 cars had gradually risen but the rate of British population having no access to a car dropped by 22%.
