Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The chart illustrates data about 8 different commonly played sports by girls and boys in New Zealand in 2002. This report will evaluate the data given.

Overall. Swimming was mostly popular among both the genders in New Zealand. Most of the boys preferred playing football whereas the girls enjoyed playing Netball.

In terms of both male and female, swimming was the most common sport with around 13% female and around 23% male participants in 2002. Similarly, 25% of the girls loved netball while less than 25% of the boys loved soccer. However, boys were significantly engaged in playing cricket and martial arts than girls which was around 11% and 9% respectively.

On the other hand, there were no significant differences in the remaining sports. This proportion of girls in athletic games were higher than that of boys while in basketball, nearly 10% of boys used to play this sport. Surprisingly, more than 18% of boys also played other games in New Zealand than the girls which only accounted for 10%.
