The chart below gives information on the global sales of hybrid vehicles between 2006 and 2009.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The chart compares the sale figures for Hybrid vehicles which are powered by both fuel and electricity in the world over a period of 3 years, from 2006 to 2009.
Overall, Japan and the US were the largest markets for these means of transport at the time. It can also be noticed that by 2009, Japan had taken over the US to become the leading country in the consumption of hybrid vehicles.
Looking at the chart in more detail, in 2006, there were 250,000 vehicles sold in the US, which was 5 times higher than the figures for Japan and other countries with an equal number of just 50,000. Two years later, the sales in the US saw a slight reduction to 310,000 after reaching a peak of 350,000 in 2007. Whereas, the number of vehicles bought by Japanese and others witnessed only a marginal increase to 100,000 during the period. Despite this fact, the US was still the major market.
By the year 2009, there had been a reverse trend. Specifically, the figures recorded in Japan had experienced a soar to 330,000 to top the list of consumers, causing the US to become the second-largest market for hybrid vehicles with only under 300,000 out of the total of 740,000.
