The given bar chart compares the expenditure of France and the UK on six different types of consumer goods in 2010.
Overall, in the given period, the UK spent more on consumer goods than the France in three of five categories, which were cars, books and cameras. Both countries spent most of their money on cars whereas the least amount of money was spent on perfume in the UK compared to cameras in the France. Furthermore, the most significant difference in expenditure between two countries was on cameras.
In the UK, expenditure on cars was £450,000 compared to £400,000 in the France. Similarly, people in the UK spent more on books as opposed to French (about £400,000 and £300,000 respectively). In terms of cameras, British expenditure was over double that of their counterpart, which was £150,000.
On the other hand, the amount of money paid out on the remaining goods was higher in France. Expenditure in France was above £350,000, nearly similar with the UK at exact £350,000. Finally, around £200,000 was spent by the French on perfume, slightly higher than the British people at £150,000.
