The pie charts compare the percentage of total water used five different sectors in Sydney, Australia between 1997 and 2007.
Total water consumption used for food industry accounted for the highest percentage in both 1997 and 2007. The proportion of water consumed for both household use and service industry increased dramatically from 1997 to 2007.
In 1997, the percentage of water used for food industry was just a half of total water consumption, followed by water consumption of building industry, accounting for only 5%. The proportion of water consumed for household use stood at under a fifth. Similarly, the figures for water consumption of service industry and manufacturing were 13% and 15% respectively, which was roughly equal.
By 2007, the percentage of water used for the service industry experienced a significant growth to 26%, surpassing the household use 21% to rank second. After a decade, despite a marfinal drop of 7%, the food industry still dominated other sectors. Meanwhile, the figures for manufacturing and building industry was a slight decline, at 11% and 2% respectively
