The bar chart shows how the figure for Australian foreign students from 6 various countries changed in a 2-year period.
It’s noticeable that the quantity of Chinese students studying in Australia was always the highest of the 6 nations. Also, while the number of international students from China, Brazil, and Malaysia showed a downward trend, the opposite was true for that of overseas students from India, Nepal, and Vietnam over the period shown.
In 2019, the number of Chinese students studying abroad in Australia was 182,325, compared with 92,024 of India and 46,382 of Nepal. In the year 2020, the figure for international students from India and Nepal rose slightly to 108,049 and 50,252 respectively, whereas the quantity of that in China showed a decrease by 14,757.
Turning to the other countries, initiating at 22,204 in 2019, there was a gentle increase to 23,268 in the quantity of Vietnamese students who study abroad in Australia over the following year. On the other hand, Brazil and Malaysia followed a similar pattern, starting at around 20,000 each before falling marginally to 21,086 and 19,564 respectively at the end of the period.
